The Meritorious Service Medal

With a distinguished career spanning more than 25 years, Kyle MacGibbon has established himself as a leader in the field of sales management and marketing. In addition to his professional career, Kyle MacGibbon has been recognized for his military achievements during his time as a captain in the U.S. Army. While serving, he received many accolades including the Meritorious Service Medal.

The Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) was established in 1969 following an executive order signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The idea for the medal was first proposed at an awards conference where discussions concluded that a specific award for merit was needed to recognize noncombat achievements.

Designed by Jay Morris, the MSM is a bronze medal embellished with a carved eagle standing atop laurel branches. The medal is awarded to members of the U.S. Army with a record of outstanding noncombat service to the United States. The MSM is considered equal in prestige to the Legion of Merit.
